India 2022
Located in Central Asia, India is like a fairytale. Like something straight out of a movie. Its culture and history is ever present, and so are its beautiful landscapes.
Join me on this unforgettable journey!
India is one of the most unique places on earth. Nothing really compares to it. The diversity is incomparable. With massive mountains in the north, rice terraces in the south, and ever present historical sights. India is a dream for photographers.
On this photography tour, we will visit some of the most spectacular places in the Country. When we are not out photographing we will have Q&A sessions, photography talks as well as editing sessions. The entire purpose of the tour is to improve our photography, create new friendships and of course, capture something special.
Number of participants: 6-12
Itinerary
The itinerary will be subject to change on short notice, if we notice that bad weather is rolling in in a certain location.
If that is the case we will reschedule and move around in the itinerary. All decisions will be taken along with the group with a suggestion from the tour leaders.
Day 1-2
You will be picked up in Delhi airport and taken straight to the hotel, to get settled in. Once the entire group has arrived we will head into the city, and find a great place to have dinner. We will talk about the tour, share expectations, and have a Q&A session. After dinner we will head back to the hotel and prepare for the next day.
For sunrise on day 2 we are heading to Yamuna ghat for quite a spectacle. Boats go into the water around sunrise, where they feed the birds. Hundreds of birds flock around the boats, making for some epic photos. If the light is just right, we can capture some incredible shots.
After sunrise we are heading to Jama Masjid where we hope to get some photos before too many people arrive. It is a spectacular sight, one of the most beautiful mosques in all of India. When we are done photographing the mosque, we will find a place to have breakfast.
After breakfast we make or way to Chandni Chowk, one of the most interesting places in the city. So much is happening here, and people are constantly on the move, giving the opportunity for some great street shots.
If possible we will make our way to the rooftop, from where we have a birds eye view, of what’s happening below.
Last on the program is a visit at Humayuns Tomb. It closes at 6pm, so we will try to be there at around 5.15, in order to photograph when the light is as soft as possible.
Afterwards we will head back to the hotel to grab our things, before leaving for Agra.
Once we arrive in Agra, we will head straight to the hotel, for some much needed sleep.

Day 3-4
Day 3 and 4 will be all about the Taj Mahal! We will rise early in order to be among the first people in line to enter the Taj Mahal. Upon entering we will first get the classic photos so we can tick them off before too many people arrive. However afterwards we will be walking around, looking for new compositions, and trying to be creative. We will spend as much time as you would like, so there is no need to rush. Once we are done photographing Taj Mahal, we will head back into the city to get some dinner.
As the later afternoon appears, we will walk down to the river, from where we will go into a boat, in order to photograph the Taj from the water. There is only one boat so we will have to be patient. Also, it is not always that the boat is by the shore. In case it is not, we have something else planned.
On day 4 we have two options. We can choose to go back into the Taj Mahal premises (not included) or visit Mehtab Bagh, which is opposite the Taj Mahal. In case we choose the later we will be in line for 6 o’clock, when the park opens. From here we will have a completely different view of the Taj Mahal, but nevertheless, stunning.
Once we are done photographing we will head back to the city. We will visit one other viewpoint of the Taj Mahal, before it is time to pack up or things, and prepare for Varanasi.
We will take the night train, meaning that we arrive early next morning in Varanasi.

Day 5-6
We will arrive in Varanasi during the early hours of the day. We are just going to head for the hotel, leave our stuff, and go straight for the river. Varanasi is an amazing place to do some people photography, and we will walk up and down the river looking for interesting situations, and hopefully get to interact with a sadhu or two.
By evening time, we will once again set off for the river, where we will experience the ceremony going on.
For sunrise on day 6, we will go into a boat, and sail along the river, watching life go by. It is a great opportunity to get a different angle to photograph everything going on, on shore.
Once we are done photographing, we will go for some breakfast, before flying to Jaipur.

Day 6-7
On day 6 of the tour we arrive in the beautiful Jaipur. Jaipur is also known as the pink city due to the fact that many of the buildings in the old part of town are painted in pink. As we arrive we will make our way to the hotel, before going out to explore the city.
Our photography spot for sunset will be at the monkey tempel. On top there is a beautiful view of the entire city, however on the way up there we will encounter countless monkeys, so it’s important that you hold on to your gear.
The following morning we will head to Jal Mahal, which is also known as the water palace. As the sun slowly rises we might be lucky enough to experience some stunning colors in the sky.
Before the sun is completely up, we will jump into our transportation and drive to the wall opposite Amer fort. Here we can capture some beautiful photos as the sun paints over the landscape.
Close by is also the famous stepwell. Unfortunately we are not allowed to actually walk down the stepwell, however we can still capture some great photos of the symmetry.
As we wrap up our photography, we will find a good place in the city for some delicious breakfast. Afterwards we will jump into our car and drive towards Udaipur.

Day 7-9
We will arrive in Udaipur by evening and will head out for dinner after leaving our things in the hotel. Udaipur is often described as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, so we are sure to capture some stunning photos here. For sunrise on day 8, we will walk down to the river and look for interesting compositions. There will most likely also be quite a few locals down here, which makes for great subjects when photographing the sunrise. As we are done shooting, we will enjoy a delicious chai, as we just sit and marvel at the view in front of us.
You will have the rest of the day off to do some street photography, before we once again head down to the river for sunset.
Sunrise on day 9 will once again be by the lake, where we hope for some great conditions before we are driving to Jaislamer.
Day 9-11
We will most likely arrive in the evening of day 9, hopefully being able to photograph the sunset from the city fort. Jaisalmer is like something taken straight out of Alladin. Walking around inside the fort is a beautiful experience.
Day 10, we will wake up for sunrise and make our way down to the lake followed by some street photography inside the fort. The lake is absolutely amazing for sunrise, and we can take some stunning photos as the sun rises, and colors start to change.
After breakfast, we will make our way into the desert with some camels and locals. The goal is to capture some great photos of the dunes, the camels and locals, and you are free to either walk on your own to capture everything that’s happening, or ride on the camel.
The morning of day 11 we will wake up surrounded by sand dunes, and hopefully capture some stunning photos. We will have lunch in the desert before we leave for the town, and make our way to the airport from where we will fly to Delhi.
In Delhi we will have our goodbye dinner, talk about the trip and share our favorite photos.

You can find me in rural villages in India searching for the best light. In the Chinese countryside photographing the locals and rice terraces. Or about to hike a mountain or volcano in South America or South East Asia in order to create something special.
As I finished my trip around Ecuador in 2013, I figured that I had found a new love. Not only the love for travel, but also of capturing beautiful moments and tell stories through photos.
Not long after I started studying photography on my own, and devoted every free hour to do so.
I slowly developed my style, and after a few years I started getting jobs from hotels, travel companies, product brands and car rentals.
I have worked with companies such as Visit Karakol, Lava car rental, Walking with nomads, Madeira Round Trip, Killa Expeditions, Trendhim, Ditur, Quintana Sao Joao and many more.
This tour has been created in order to allow you to photograph each destination, at the best possible time. I will ensure that you are at the right place, at the right time. Furthermore I will assist you in any way possible, hold talks regarding composition and light, but also about post processing in order to share my knowledge.
Sam Van Den Heuvel
At the age of 12 my father took me on a holiday to a small town called Bodrum, located in Turkey. We fell in love with this place and went back every year since. This city of fishermen became our second home.
Time went by and I felt this hunger, this urge to explore and travel. At first I went out and wandered around for hidden treasures within the beautiful cities throughout Europe. This was just the tip of the iceberg, the beginning. My beginning.
In 2017 I was drawn to the mesmerizing islands of the Philippines. The start of my relationship with my camera.
A couple of years later with lots of trial and error I reached a level of photography where people want to hire me for jobs. From hotels to product brands and even car rentals. Life brought me already to over 25 countries. But I’m not finished yet capturing beautiful moments all over the world.
A dream of me is to share my photography passion with other people, people with the same feeling for this art.
